Editorial policy
Kettle publishes short news stories about what many people are reading and searching for right now. This page explains how a story gets here, what AI does and does not do, and how to get a mistake fixed.
How stories are picked
Kettle reads news feeds from established outlets and Google Trends through the day. A story ranks higher when several outlets report it within a few hours or when searches for it spike. Tragedies, graphic crime, partisan political framing, health scares and shopping promotions are left out even when they rank high.
How AI is used
The text of every story is drafted by an AI model from the articles listed under Sources on that story, and only from them. The model is told to use only facts, numbers and quotes that appear in those articles, to name the outlet behind each important claim, and to write in its own words.
A second AI pass then checks the draft against the same sources, sentence by sentence. Sentences it cannot match to a source are removed or rewritten, and quotes must match the source word for word.
Stories are published automatically once they pass these checks; no person reads each one before it goes up. A person at Kettle reads every report of a mistake and can correct or remove any story.
Pictures are never generated by AI. They are real photos, logos and artwork from the companies involved, the reporting outlets or Wikimedia Commons, picked automatically and checked by an AI vision step that confirms the picture shows the right subject. Each picture carries a credit line.
Sources and attribution
Kettle does not do its own reporting. Every story links to the reporting it was written from, and claims that come from one outlet are attributed to that outlet in the text. Read the sources for the full story.
Corrections
If a story gets a fact, number, quote or name wrong, email hello@kettleboils.com with the link and what is wrong. We check it against the sources and fix the story as soon as it is confirmed. Picture credit and removal requests are handled the same day.
Independence
Ads and sponsorships are always labelled. Advertisers never see stories before they go up and have no say in what Kettle covers.
Who is responsible
Kettle is published by CodePawl, an independent software studio in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Read more about Kettle or contact us.
