Apple TV is currently down for some users, as other Apple services also face issues [U]
Apple TV remained down for some users Tuesday evening after a wider set of Apple service outages was resolved.
Apple TV was still down for some users as of 7:37 p.m. ET on Tuesday, even after Apple resolved a broader set of service outages, according to 9to5Mac. Apple said most of the issues began at 4:22 p.m. ET.
The company listed the App Store, Apple Music and Mac App Store as undergoing "routine maintenance, with no expected user impact," 9to5Mac reported. The Apple TV outage began separately at 4:43 p.m. ET, with Apple warning the service "may be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance," according to the outlet.
9to5Mac's own testing found the Apple TV interface failed to load on iOS, though content continued to load and play normally on other devices. The outlet said the outages began shortly after apps including TestFlight, the App Store and Fitness+ started showing internal localization strings instead of normal interface text, and it was unclear whether that was connected to the other issues. Reports on Downdetector confirmed problems with Apple TV but appeared to have peaked and were trending down, suggesting the outage might be easing, 9to5Mac reported.
Why it matters
The outage left Apple TV unavailable for some users and affected subscription purchases, after a wider round of Apple service problems that the company said it had otherwise resolved.
